Sword of Richard The Lionheart S871

Sword of Richard The Lionheart S871

£59.94

Richard was a king of England known as the Lion-Heart and famous for his exploits in the Third Crusade, although during his ten-year reign he spent only six months in England. He was born on 8 September 1157 in Oxford, son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. He possessed considerable political and military ability. However, like his brothers, he cared nothing for his family, joining them in the great rebellion against their father in 1173. In 1183 his brother Henry died, leaving Richard heir to the throne. Henry II wanted to give Aquitaine to his youngest brother, John. Richard refused and, in 1189, joined forces with Philip II of France against his father, hounding him to a premature death in July 1189.

About Us

Simply Leather (Wales) Ltd. was established by Alan and Sue Francis approximately 24 years ago. Since March 1983 we have had a retail and workshop at the Corris Craft Centre Nr. Machynlleth producing and selling our hand crafted leather work. Prior to the inception of the business we had received a leather craft kit as a Christmas present. We produced our first leather work from this kit and went on to produce our own designs which we decided to take to a trade show in Builth Wells in 1982. To our surprise we took over four weeks work in orders and won best stand in show, thus encouraging us to set up our own business.

Simply Leather (Wales) Ltd. manufacture a large proportion of its work either at our business premises at the Craft Centre or at our purpose built workshops located at our home at Rhoslefain, Tywyn which at certain times is open to the public, (see Other Sales).

Our leather work range includes belts, shoulder bags and hats, various sized leather clad clocks and barometers, purses, wallets and novelty items. Most of our hand crafted items are made from 3.5mm cow hide although finer leathers are used in some cases. Due to demand, some of the leather work is imported from other sources. In addition to this we also sell craftsman made Fantasy and Traditional Swords which are imported from Toledo in Spain and a budget range from India. The blades are manufactured to a very high standard from stainless steel.

All goods are sold solely through our retail shops, by mail order or via our on-line catalogue. Suppliers of the hides and other materials used in the manufacture of our products are all UK based companies. However, as previously mentioned some goods are imported. Marketing for Simply Leather (Wales) Ltd. is currently achieved through paper based brochures distributed throughout Wales, local press adverts and the internet but best of all, word-of-mouth.
